Literacy by Evie
In 4A we have been reading How to train your dragon. At the moment we are at chapter 15, and there is a big sea dragon. In our literacy books we are describing what it looks like and its personality. Every morning we have our daily review and we work on suffixes and prefixes with our whiteboards. We have looked at the suffix -ate which means to make or become. After we put our boards away we do Sentence a Day in our literacy books where we make compound sentences using the words that we learnt from our daily review. We also have been making stories on our computers based on the chapter The Big Competition in How To Train Your Dragon. Some days we do an activity called Dictionary Detective, where we receive a piece of paper with tricky words from the book and get a dictionary and look up the words in it and write the definition. I enjoy doing Literacy.

Maths by Caleb
In 4A we have been learning about decimals. We have been learning the place value of ones, tenths and hundredths. We found out that whole numbers can be broken down into even smaller numbers like 0.01, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.35, and 0.99! To help us learn, we played a game of silent ball but when you caught the ball you had to count up by hundredths. We also did number lines with decimals and estimated where they go. I really enjoyed playing the games because I like solving the questions every time I catch the ball. We have also been learning our three times tables by skip-counting by threes and trying to remember our time tables from one to twelve.
