Assistant Principal's Report

Junior School Council

The Junior School Council (JSC) program has officially commenced for the year, and I am excited about the positive impact the students will bring to our school community. At their first meeting, the representatives from each class worked collaboratively with our captains and teachers to establish their expectations and develop a clear vision to guide their work throughout the year. Their thoughtful ideas and enthusiasm have set a strong foundation for the rest of the year.

The Service Learning JSC team, discussed the upcoming fundraising event, our annual “Coin Race”, in particular what is the purpose of this initiative and how to promote it.

The Student Voice team, they talk about how to gather more student voice from our school such as utilising the Student Voice Boxes and the Sustainability JSC discussed ideas to improve our environment such as protecting our garden beds and introducing Compost Bins.

Here are what some of our JSC representatives across our school learnt/felt after their first meeting:

Service Learning JSC:

“I felt very happy to be part of the SL JSC meeting because I was like my mum, attending important meetings!” – Owen, 1B

“My first meeting was pretty good because I got the responsibility to remind my class about the Coin Race. We also talked about our whole year plan for fundraisers.” – Nikan, 3A

“The first meeting was fun. We discuss the upcoming events and how to promote them. We also looked at all the fundraising events for the year. I learnt what we are going to do for the very first fundraiser, the coin race.” – Lincoln, 5F

The Junior School Council teams will meet fortnightly to plan initiatives, share ideas and lead and support improvements across the school. I look forward to seeing their leadership skills in action and sharing updates on their progress in future newsletters.
