UMatter Holiday Ideas: Kindness, Gratitude and Connection
It may be winter, but there are still plenty of opportunities to bring a little warmth into the holidays through kindness, gratitude, and connection. The school holidays are a wonderful time to slow down, notice the good around you and practise an attitude of gratitude. UMatter reminds us that small acts of kindness, appreciation and connection can make a big difference to others, and to our own wellbeing.
These holidays, we invite you to use the UMatter Holiday Kindness Calendar to practise small acts of kindness, gratitude and connection. The calendar includes simple activities such as noticing things you are grateful for, helping at home, giving compliments, spending time outside, writing a thank you note and showing appreciation for others.
When heading out during the holidays, you can also add a UMatter twist by asking:
What did we enjoy?
What are we grateful for?
Who helped make this experience possible?
How could we show kindness while we are there?
The activities are simple, free, and designed to remind children that small actions can make a big difference to their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around them. The holidays do not need to be filled with big outings to be meaningful. Often, the most memorable moments come from simple acts of kindness, shared time, laughter, rest and noticing the little things we are grateful for.
Wishing all ENPS families a safe, restful and happy holiday break. Enjoy the holidays!
