Adventure at Sovereign Hill

The Year Five students recently enjoyed an amazing excursion to Sovereign Hill, and we were incredibly lucky to have beautiful sunshine throughout the day!

Students stepped back in time and experienced life during the Australian gold rush. One of the highlights of the day was trying their luck at gold panning, where many students eagerly searched for tiny pieces of gold. We also took an underground mine tour, which provided a fascinating insight into the challenging lives of miners during the 1800s. Students learned about the difficult working conditions and the important role mining played in shaping Australia's history.

Another exciting experience was watching the spectacular gold pour demonstration, where students saw molten gold transformed into a gleaming gold bar. Of course, no trip to Sovereign Hill would be complete without a visit to the famous lolly shop, where students enjoyed exploring the wide range of traditional sweets and treats!

The excursion was a fantastic opportunity for students to make real-world connections to our Term Two Unit of Inquiry, which focused on Australia's history. Through hands-on experiences and interactive activities, students deepened their understanding of the people, events, and discoveries that helped shape our nation.

We are very proud of the way our students represented our school and thank Sovereign Hill for providing such a memorable and educational experience.
