Performing Arts

Hi Everyone!

We’ve had such an exciting and creative time in Performing Arts this term, especially with all the different dance styles and flash mobs that've been performed across the school!

Foundation

Foundation students completed their ‘Push and Pull’ partner dances and explored the movements of different insects from the Millipede March!

Year One and Two

Year One and Two students completed their unit on Dance Maps and enjoyed taking turns being choreographers! During Reconciliation Week, they had the opportunity to retell ‘The Rainbow Serpent’ (an Aboriginal Dreamtime story) through movement. They celebrated the end of the term with a Superhero Dance and created a Dance Show for the class to enjoy.

Year Three and Four

Year Three and Four students completed their ‘Dances from Around the World’ unit and learnt five different dance styles throughout the term: they started with the Melbourne Shuffle, followed by Classical Ballet, Aboriginal Dance, Salsa and even Michael Jackson style dancing! They celebrated the end of the term by creating a dance in a style of their choice and performing it to their class as a Dance Talent Show.

Year Five and Six

During Week Nine, Year Five and Six students successfully performed their Flash Mob dances at different locations around the school grounds. These surprise, pop-up performances were very much appreciated by their enthusiastic audiences, whether it was in the quadrangle or the oval!

Every class has also had the opportunity to reflect on the term and then create their own dance show and perform it to the class, as a celebration of the end of their semester in Performing Arts.

Next semester they will move on to Visual Arts and the other half of the school will start Performing Arts. We look forward to welcoming the new classes to Performing Arts!
