A Word from Justin

Term 3, Week 10 - Friday 18th September, 2026

Dear Families of OLSC,

Justin is currently on long service leave in Ireland and over the school holidays he will be travelling to France and Italy. We hope he is having an amazing time and we will see him back at school in Week 2 of next term.

The staff would like to thank everyone for a great Term 3; one full of events and learning. We've enjoyed Masses, Sacraments, Faith night incursions, excursions, swimming, camps, 100 days of school for our preps, sporting competitions and Book Week as well as all our "normal" learning days. It's no wonder everyone is tired.

Please take the next two weeks to rest, refresh and have some quality family time together. We look forward to term 4 starting on Monday 5th October.

Kind regards,

Bec

The Great Book Swap

This week, students were invited to bring a gold coin to school to buy a pre-loved book at the OLSC Great Book Swap. The money collected during this event will be donated to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation, which will be used to provide new, culturally relevant children's books to Communities across remote areas of Australia. Thank you to the senior Arts and Social Justice Leaders for collecting books, setting up the Book Swap and helping on the day to collect coins. This year, we raised $370 as a school community for the ILF, so that's 370 books that have found a new home with our children!!!

Thank you to all who donated books to be sold and to our families who managed to find a few dollars for their children to buy a book or two. Our students all left the Book Swap with big smiles on their faces, excited to buy books for $1 each and take them home to read. This rewarding event will take place again next year, so please hold on to any children's books you would like to take off your bookshelves until later in 2027.

Library / Discovery Centre -  It's almost there!

Over the last 2 weeks, the Discovery Centre has been getting some final touches. This is a very exciting stage of our new build, with only a few minor parts left to complete.

Our new portables were delivered on Wednesday 16th September, with a huge crane lifting them off the trucks and putting them in place. It's getting very exciting now.

Regional Success for Emily and the Squad

Emily's parents have some wonderful news to share with us...

Last weekend, Emily competed at the Gymnastics Metropolitan West Regional Championships in Geelong, and we couldn't be prouder of how her hard work showed on the floor.

She had a wonderful run on the balance beam, taking home first place, and finished sixth in her floor routine. All told, those scores earned her a fantastic fifth place overall in the individual competition.

Even better, her team pulled together an incredible effort to take second place overall. That podium finish earned the whole group a spot at the Victorian Championships this October!

As parents, seeing the endless hours of practice and quiet dedication pay off in moments like this means everything. Congratulations to Emily and all the girls—we’re so excited to cheer you on at States!
