ARTS ENRICHMENT PROGRAM
On Monday, May 5, the Year 9 AEP class went into the city to participate in a Melbourne cultural excursion. We started off the day by catching a train to Flinders Street Station and began to walk our way to the Melbourne Arts Centre, where we were able to have a Front of House tour of the Hamer Hall and the other theatres and foyers.
We were taken to look around at all of the different stages deep below the Arts Centre and were provided with great information from our tour guide, Sarah. Also in the Arts Centre, we were able to look at the music vault, and we got to see some historical objects in music history. After that, we took a short walk to Saint Paul's Cathedral with its great architecture, stained glass windows, and artworks. Just down the road, we saw the very famous Hosier Lane, filled to the brim with bright, vibrant colours and amazing street art.
After Hosier Lane, we visited a unique and creative street art exhibition titled 'The Outsiders.' This included some works by famous artists such as Banksy and Rone. Then we visited a small alley, Presgrave Place, to have a look at the different pieces of work on the walls; there were so many little details that we could look for ages.
Our last art stop of the day was the Block Arcade, filled with a lot of details and history. It was a very interesting experience and a great place to end our journey.
Finally, we took the train back to Lilydale, and that was our Melbourne cultural excursion. It was a really fun time, and I would definitely do it again and recommend it to the future year levels to come.
