Celebrating Joy with Lorelei the Elf.
As December approached, the girls welcomed a new Loreto enrollee: Lorelei the Elf.
Instead of staying in class, Lorelei had the habit of hiding around the grounds capturing everyone's imagination and enjoyment in our daily elf hunt. Even our Year 11 girls were encouragingly recruited by our Year 7s to assist.
Each day, our Senior girls received an email with a clue to locate Lorelei. Upon finding her, Lorelei provided another cryptic clue to identify the staff member in possession of the Christmas key to unlock her prize box. This challenge fostered collaboration among the girls, allowing them to form new friendships between grade levels, and strengthen their connections with staff members in their search.
On the final day of school, Ms McCullah was revealed to be the keeper of the key, and the race was on to find her first. The Acacias became filled with a jubilant group of girls celebrating their success and singing Christmas carols.
This incredible spirit of fun and kindness brought our community together, inspiring everyone to share joy and positivity through small gestures. The way we treat one another, along with the gift of time and connection, leaves a lasting impression. In a true reflection of Mary Ward’s open circle of friends, I’m so pleased that our girls have encouraged Lorelei to visit again next year. They have also suggested she be gifted a tiny Loreto uniform and hat for her return.
Lorelei adventures and our random acts of kindness challenges helped reinforce the importance of shared connection and joy in shaping our College culture.
I wish everyone a joyful Christmas and a wonderful summer holiday filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. I am excited about the year of Felicity ahead and the opportunities it will bring to support the wellbeing and engagement of every Loreto girl and family.
