HASS Mock Trials

Lumen Law won the war but lost the battle this week during Round Two of the Mock Trial Competition. Organised by the Law Society of WA and held at the Supreme Court of WA, the Mock Trial Competition (MTC) is a community legal education initiative in which student teams take on the roles of Prosecution/Plaintiff and the Defence as well as witnesses and other court personnel to present both sides of a fictitious criminal or civil case before a mock trial judge in a real court room.

Our client, the defendant Arthur ‘Al’ Capone was found not guilty of illegally harvesting guano (bird poo) against Penrhos College - Trial Blazers, however, we lost on total points. The team, made up of Year 10 and 11 students are a new team who until this year had no previous Mock Trial experience, but have significantly improved since our last appearance against Applecross Senior High School.
