Grade 2/3/4

A Fortnight of Discovery and Determination in 2/3/4!
It has been an action-packed fortnight in Grade 2/3/4! We have hit the ground running this term, and I am so proud of the energy the students are bringing to their learning every day.
Maths and Literacy
In Maths, we’ve been sharpening our addition and subtraction skills, using engaging games to consolidate our learning and make those mental strategies "stick."
In Literacy, we’ve been busy writing factual recounts. From the secret lives of cats and the history of dog adoption, to how to train a dog and the fascinating life cycle of a butterfly, students have been learning how to organise their ideas in their writing. We focused heavily on using chronological order and sequential words like "first," "next" and "finally"—to bring their factual recounts to life.
Inquiry and Religion
Our Inquiry unit has taken us on a deep dive into the concept of "Community." We’ve been exploring what it means to belong, looking at our local communities, the wider Australian community, and the rich history of First Nations communities. Meanwhile, in Religion, we continued our Easter journey by reflecting on the story of the Empty Tomb and its significance.
Sports and Highlights
It wasn't all hard work, though! We celebrated some fantastic athletic achievements this fortnight. The older students competed in Cross Country last Friday. A massive congratulations to Eliza, Daniel and Scarlett for their incredible persistence in finishing the course. You made us very proud! This Friday, the Grade 2s attended the Tabloid Sports Day and they had a blast. It was a day filled with smiles and non-stop movement—I have no doubt they will all sleep soundly tonight!
Community Moments
Of course, we always find time for a bit of fun. The classroom was full of giggles as I shared photos of my cats, Brownie, Snackie and Doug, and we were all mesmerised by Gabe’s remote-controlled frilled-neck lizard! Nature even treated us to a spectacular rainbow to top off the week.
Have a wonderful, restful weekend. Go Pies!!!
