German Exchange Program
In late October/early November of this year, we welcomed nineteen students and two teachers from Schäfersfeldschule, our partnership school in Germany. The group spent a few days exploring Sydney, before flying to Melbourne to meet their host families. Students stayed with their host families for two weeks, experiencing life in another country and student life at Patterson River Secondary College.
During their first week at school, German students attended classes, went on a day trip to Phillip Island, visited Moonlit Sanctuary and enjoyed a sport afternoon, all alongside their hosts. Our day on Phillip Island saw the group explore beautiful beaches and sights and attend the penguin parade. Students also experienced the persistent attention from the local seagulls. Students then spent the weekend away with their host families, exploring other beautiful areas around Victoria.
The second week involved more classes with their hosts, a visit to the Mornington Peninsula with our Year 11 German students and Food and Design Technology elective classes. While the two weeks were busy, they were also filled with many laughs and new memories. Students built life-long connections with their host families, with many tears as they left for the airport.
A massive thank you to those families who hosted students and helped make their stay so memorable. We look forward to our visit to Schäfersfeldschule in 2025.
