Cricket
Congratulations to the intermediate boys cricket team on achieving runners up at the recent Southern Metro Region Championships. Coached by Matt Hayes, the boys defeated Dromana in the semi finals, before eventually falling just short to a very good team from Nossal in the final. Gus K starred for Patterson River Secondary College, making 78 not out and taking 3 wickets in the semi, then making 47 in the final. Well done to all players on a terrific year.
AFL
Last Thursday (31st of October) a select few of Year 9 and 10 boys were invited to compete in a one-off AFL friendly competition against Mordialloc Secondary College and Albert Park Secondary College. The day consisted of each school playing two games made up of 4x15minute quarters.
The boys had Mordialloc first up in what was somewhat difficult conditions to start the day (wet ground with sun out) but got off to a good start kicking the first of the day. In the end the boys had a comfortable win 45-21 with bad kicking letting us down (5.15) could have been a lot more.
In the next game against Albert Park, the boys had a slow start and conceded the first two goals of the game, it also didn't help that we had head clash early in the game between two teammates meaning we only had one on bench for the rest of the game. After moving the magnets around and a brief chat around on field rotations the boys were revved up and went on to produce their best win of the day, coming from a 2-point deficient at three quarter time to kick three unanswered goals in the last to claim victory 45-31.
All of the boys should hold their head high with how they performed on the day and how they represented the college with great pride!
Best player across the two games:
Gus K, Lars G Tyler D, Harper G, Phoenix D, Daniel K.

Year 10 Outdoor Education
It has been a busy Term 4 for our Year 10 Outdoor Education classes so far. As well as finishing their last CATs and preparing for the upcoming exams, they have been out and about. Students have been camping down at Kilcunda where they worked together to set up tents, cook a nutritious dinner on the trangias and survive the elements. The students enjoyed two surf lessons at Smiths Beach, where it was pleasing to see students grow in confidence in the water and most students were able to stand up on the surfboard by the end of the first lesson.
Finally, both classes went to Treetops Adventure where students challenged themselves on a variety of ropes courses, which get harder as they climb higher through the trees. Students had the opportunity to test their fear of heights with the freefall, whilst others enjoyed the many flying foxes. All the best to the students in their upcoming exams!
