This afternoon, our Year 12 English students had the privilege of hearing from Ross Huggard, a highly experienced VCE English assessor, who delivered an engaging and inspiring seminar in preparation for their upcoming assessments.

With decades of experience teaching VCE English,  Mr Huggard has authored numerous resources, including many Insight Exam Guides, and regularly contributes to educational journals. He is widely respected for his work with students and teachers across the state.

His session was both practical and motivating, offering students clear strategies, valuable insights, and a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed in VCE English. Both students and staff left feeling energised, confident, and ready to approach their assessments with renewed focus and purpose.

In 2026 we have seen the VCE VM program grow again to 27 students across Year 11 and 12. These students are all undertake a VET study which is linked to their future career aspirations, which allows them to apply their knowledge of Workplace safety and relations from the classroom to their specific industry.

As the program has expanded we have introduced the subject of VM Literacy which enables students within the VCE VM program to focus on literacy skills which are essential to the workplace and contributing to a positive workplace environment. The VCE VM Literacy students have engaged in running a mock interview program with our Year 9 students. A program they have planned and are excited to deliver to our Year 9 Students across Week 9 of this term.

As part of our Occupational Health and Safety unit, our VCE VM students were able to attend the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix. The students as they walked through the large scale event were tasked to apply their knowledge of OHS to an event setting, recording the different ways in which the Grand Prix kept patrons and employees safe during the event.

One of our Year 12s wrote a reflection on the day:

"On March 5th the VCE VM students of Year 11 and 12 visited the Formula 1 Grand Prix to analyse the importance of ensuring the events run safely and smoothly. We arrived there at 1:30pn and were able to watch the Formula 2 cars and V8 cars do their practice sessions. Whilst we were there we were tasked to investigate and explore the different types of jobs required at a major event like this one, PPE and safety practices that are used to keep employees and members of the public safe. Another key part to ensuring the safety of all people there is to be able to identify hazards and how they are either controlled or removed altogether to minimise the risks posed to people. The event was a fun day out that helped us expand our knowledge on our topics of PPE and OHS, as we could see them all in action."
