Students are not to be in possession of or use their mobile phone between 8:35am and 3:10pm. Primary students must keep their phones in their lockers from the time they arrive at school and are not permitted to use them before school. If found in possession of a phone during these hours, the phone will be confiscated and taken to Student Administration. If this occurs twice during the school semester, then a one day internal suspension will result.
Should you need to get an urgent message to your son during the day, please contact Student Administration (Years 7-12) or Primary Reception.
If your son is leaving school early for any reason, we request that you notify the College in writing using the Parent Lounge/Attendance tile on the Parent Portal.
Students are not to use their mobile phones to call home requesting permission to leave early for any reason. There are several issues with this scenario including using mobile devices during the school day (students know it should be in their locker), lack of communication with the pastoral leader and duty of care responsibilities.
If students are not feeling well during the day, they are to go to the Health Centre where a decision will be made if a student is too sick to continue with school. If students are going home after being assessed, the Health Centre will contact home to arrange pick up.
Monday 26 to Friday 30 August
Queensland Road Safety Week aims to raise awareness of road safety within communities across the state. The safety of our students, parents and carers, and staff is paramount, and we all have a role to play. Students become road users at an early age as pedestrians, scooter or bike riders, and are our future drivers.
Sadly, road trauma is a leading cause of death for Queensland children. As a community, young people need our support and guidance to keep safe on and around roads while they are still developing cognitive, sensory, and physical skills required to be safe on and around the roads.
Formal notification of roadworks along Frasers Road has been received by the College from Brisbane City Council which will impact arrival and departures routes to and from the College for Term 4.
Council will be undertaking necessary drainage works on Frasers Road and Tay Street, Ashgrove from early September 2024 with an anticipated completion of late December 2024, weather and site conditions permitting. Because of the extent of the works, this section of Frasers Road will remain closed for the duration of the project to ensure safety for everyone. A detour will be in place for the duration of the works. Road users should allow additional time in your journey if you’re travelling through the area. Please follow the direction of signage and traffic control. Safe pedestrian and cycle access through the work area will be maintained at all times. Sections of on-street parking on Frasers Road will be temporarily unavailable during construction works. Access to Dorrington Park and associated off-street parking will be unavailable.
Council and Brisbane Bus lines have been in contact with the College regarding the impacts of the works. The only impact which we may experience are delays to buses departing the area of an afternoon.
Please find below a suggested detour from the council. Further infomration regarding the works is available at this link: Venus Street and Frasers Road drainage works - Ashgrove | Brisbane City Council
