The opportunity to display artwork in a gallery setting is a worthwhile experience for our students, as it allows for their work to be seen by all in the community, beyond the walls of the classroom and alongside the work of professional practicing artists. We are very proud of the high standard of work that our students produce and we appreciate the efforts of the Tower Art Show committee in providing this avenue for our student work to be displayed in such a beautiful and traditional setting within the Tower Block.
On assembly in Week 7, we acknowledged the winners of the student submissions for the 2024 Uplift Project. As part of the 2024 Tower Art Show this year, there was a new initiative to boost the funds raised for the Champagnat Trust. All exhibiting artists and students from all year levels (5-12) were invited to create and donate an A5 sized artwork based on the theme of “First Light.” One hundred percent of the money received from sales of the artworks went to the Trust. Lisa Taylor King, our feature artist for the 2024 Tower Art Show, judged the student artworks and the following students were awarded prizes:
We congratulate all students who entered work and we thank Eckersleys Art and Craft and the Tower Art Show Committee for their support in sponsoring these fantastic prizes.
The Independent Education Union conducts an annual Art and Design Competition which is open to students in non-government schools across Queensland. We congratulate Jasper Moeller in Year 6 who received Highly Commended in the Year 5 and 6 section and Kila De Busch who has received a Highly Commended Award in the First Nations section. Next Wednesday, both students will be attending the presentation evening at the Queensland Multicultural Centre, where their work will be on display as part of the annual exhibition of all entries from students attending independent schools from around the state.
