News from Foundation

What a fantastic start to school life our Foundation students have had! It has been a busy and exciting term as the children settled into their new routines and became familiar with the classroom and school environment. We are incredibly proud of how well the students have adjusted to school. They have shown great courage, independence, and enthusiasm as they learned new routines, made friendships, and explored their new surroundings. Throughout the term, we have focused on building strong foundations in early literacy and numeracy. Students have been learning to recognise letters and sounds, practise writing their names, count, sort, and explore numbers in fun and engaging ways. A big focus has also been on developing social skills, such as taking turns, sharing, listening, and working together. It has been wonderful to see friendships forming and confidence growing each day. Thank you to all families for your support during this important first term. We are so proud of everything the children have achieved and are looking forward to another exciting term of learning ahead!

Inquiry

This Term for inquiry, we have been focusing on and learning about Identity! We have discussed all the things that make us special, such as the features of our hair and eye colour, as well as our likes, dislikes and interests. On Wednesday afternoon, the Foundations shared all the awesome work they have done with their families! It was a wonderful celebration of their learning!

Maths

We have been loving doing lots of fun maths games and activities at school this week! We have been focusing on the skill Subitising- where you look at a collection of objects and say the number without counting. We have been enjoying playing a game where you roll a die, subitise the number, and use counters to place them onto a tens frame (a table with 10 squares). We have also been doing a lot of work on numbers this term and have been practising writing numbers 0-10.
