Highlights from Heights

As we come to the end of Term 1, we would like to congratulate all of our students on a fantastic start to the school year. A special congratulations goes to our Foundation students, who have successfully completed their very first term of school. They have made a strong and confident start, building new friendships, developing their learning routines and enjoying special events such as our Foundation Family Fun Day. We are very proud of how well they have settled into school life.

Last week’s Harmony Day celebrations were a true highlight of the term and one of the most special days on our school calendar. It was wonderful to see so many families join us to celebrate the rich diversity of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the shared morning tea, it was a fantastic way to bring people together. The student performances were outstanding, and the parade was a vibrant sea of colour, reflecting the inclusive and respectful culture we are so proud of at Springvale Rise. Harmony Day is an important opportunity for us to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion and remind our students that everyone belongs.

We would also like to acknowledge the many students who have demonstrated strong attendance throughout the term, well done and keep it up! Regular attendance is essential for learning, as it ensures students don’t miss important teaching, opportunities to practise new skills, and valuable time connecting with their peers.

Over the school holidays, we encourage families to support students in maintaining their learning in simple and enjoyable ways. Reading books, visiting the local library, writing shopping lists, stories, cards or notes to friends are all great ways to practise literacy skills. Maths can be incorporated into everyday activities such as counting, adding up items, or helping with grocery shopping. These small activities can make a big difference in keeping skills strong.

We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing and enjoyable break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for Term 2.
