Wakakirri
On the Tuesday 11 August, 76 performers and 5 staff presented a story at the Frankston Arts Centre that had been rehearsed every Tuesday after school since February. Whilst there were no winners on the day, we certainly achieved greatness by qualifying for the Awards Night on Monday 7 September, performing again the same night to a sold-out crowd and qualified for the National performance on 14 October.
The experience has been magical, we are so proud of the students involved, listed below are some of the awards we won along the way to the Nationals!

“The use of the tree as a metaphor and simile is a powerful construct and symbol. The comparison of the aging tree being a guardian for the overlooked guardians of the community is such a thought-provoking choice. Stunning, Heartwarming, Mesmerising.”

What an achievement!!! This award is given to just ONE school on the night. It recognises:

- Being respectful, enthusiastic and supportive throughout the Wakakirri experience

State School Spectacular
On Saturday 29 August, 18 of our students had the incredible opportunity to perform and work behind the scenes at the Victorian State Schools Spectacular at John Cain Arena, alongside talented students from across Victoria.
Our students took on a range of roles, including:
- Sara, Year 12 – one of just six backing vocalists selected from across Victoria.
- Jada, Year 12 – selected as a Stage Manager following an application and interview process.
- 16 students from Years 8–12 – represented our school as part of the Mass Dance ensemble.
It was an amazing experience and we are incredibly proud of all 18 students for their talent, commitment and contribution to this spectacular event. The 2026 Victorian State Schools Spectacular will air on Channel 7 in Victoria on Friday 18 December and will also be available on 7Plus.

Senior Battle of the Bands
Sam C, Dylan B and Gage H took to the stage at the Senior Battle of the Bands, held at Patterson River Secondary College on Wednesday 2 September.
With 14 schools competing from across the region, the event showcased an impressive range of talented young musicians and energetic performances. While we didn’t take home any awards on the night, Sam, Dylan and Gage quickly won over the crowd and were definitely a crowd favourite, delivering a performance full of energy, attitude and enthusiasm.
It was a fantastic opportunity to perform alongside other school bands and a great achievement to be part of such a competitive event.

Year 8 Showtime
In the Year 8 showtime elective, students have been working on the beginning stages of their own take on Matilda, Matildah. Students have been spending a double period every week since step-up organizing the show, choreographing their own dance, designing their own costumes, sets and props and acting out their parts. So far, they have made it all the way to scene 5 and have choreographed through ‘Revolting Children’.

Year 9 Dance Industry Day
Our Year 9 Dance students recently had the opportunity to experience the world of tertiary performing arts training through an exciting Industry Day at Spectrum Global Arts and Patrick School of the Arts.
Students took part in practical workshops, participated in Q&A sessions with artistic directors and had the opportunity to observe tertiary students in action. The day provided a valuable insight into the level of training, commitment and professionalism required to pursue further study and a career in the performing arts.
It was an inspiring day that allowed students to experience what life beyond secondary school could look like for those wishing to continue their journey in dance and the performing arts.

Annual Spring Concert
Tuesday 15th September marked the performance of the 34th Annual Spring Concert. Instrumental music students were delighted to play to a sold-out audience in the Performing Arts Centre for the evening show. The bands rocked as usual and we are, as always, very proud of our students and their many talents. Congratulations to all the students who performed and helped to create a wonderful night.
A special mention goes out to our graduating Year 12 music students, listed below, who have now played their very last Spring Concert. These students have diligently supported the program throughout their time at the College and continue to provide inspiration for the up and comers below them. As they begin to study for their final exams, we would like to thank them for their commitment and wish them the very best of luck.
