Dear Families,
We have had a fantastic start to the term with students and staff returning with enthusiasm and energy regardless of the cold mornings! We are really proud of our students for their positive attitudes and efforts with their learning.
We want to thank you for your assistance with the safety upgrades to our car park. We take student safety very seriously and, although it may cause inconvenience, we are committed to creating the safest environment possible. The ‘pick-up zone’ is now a single entry and exit. Please drive as far forward as you can and your child will walk to the car. Do not invent parks or mount the curb. We are always willing to support children to use the ‘pick-up lane’ if they have not used it in the past - just let class teachers know. Our staff supervise students outside until 3:15pm, after which they are walked to the office to wait or call parents. Thanks to the superstar students who were so great in our safety video shared on Compass and Facebook. They were amazing!
Our building project is progressing well, with many students excitedly peeking through the fence to see the new equipment. We can see an impressive wooden tiered seat, a slide from the fort and the poles have just gone in for the new flying fox! We are looking at completion later this term.
This week we are farewelling Raman, one of our wonderful TAs. Raman has been with us for five years and has made a huge impact in the lives of our students. Raman is taking time to support her family and will be returning to assist us with relief work. We welcome Katrina Riseley to the TA team. Katrina is well known to our staff and students and is a very experienced TA.
Later this term we will be farewelling Susan Andrews, our HPE teacher. Susan has also been with us for five years and is increasing her work days at another school. Susan has been instrumental in boosting the HPE profile of John Paul II - both teaching and booking expert lessons in a range of sports and activities, as well as organising carnivals and our participation in statewide competitions. We wish Raman and Susan all the best in the next chapter of their lives. Recruitment processes have begun for a replacement HPE teacher.
Have a great weekend!
