As a school, we have a graduate vision, that sets out how we want students to be when they finish school. I want to draw your attention to the last part of this vision, where we value global perspectives and recognise the role they will play as changemakers for a socially just and ecologically sustainable future.

Being a global citizen isn’t just about knowing what’s happening beyond our borders, it’s about stepping up, using your voice and shaping the future you want to see. That’s exactly what the Lions Youth of the Year program encourages. It challenges students to think deeply, communicate confidently and show leadership through interviews, public speaking and proving community involvement. It’s not an easy competition, but it’s one that builds real‑world skills and real‑world courage.

This year, our participants showed exactly that. They prepared with dedication, spoke with clarity and represented our school with pride. The following students are congratulated:

Bronte (Year 11, Perugia)

Sarah Chew (Year 12, Villa Spada)

Adelaide Clifton (Year 11, Belle Prairie)

Millicent Tilson (Year 10, Belle Prairie)

Imogen McKenna (Year 12, Villa Spada)

Excitingly, both Milly and Bronte were awarded the Public Speaking awards in their streams and outstandingly, both Sarah and Imogen took the overall win in their respective competitions!

The willingness of these students to put themselves forward marks them as clear leaders in our school, and beyond. We wish Imogen & Sarah good luck in their next competition and we will let you know how they go!

MUN State Conference

Good luck to Harper (Year 9, Spoleto) and Shree (Year 9, Villa Spada) who are attending the Model United Nations State Conference this weekend. We can’t wait to hear how it goes!

Debating Begins!

Debating season has kicked off at Mount Alvernia with students locking into trainings and debates. Our Year 10s were the first teams to start us off on Wednesday evening and they scored back to back wins! Thanks to our amazing coaches for their dedication.
