Grade 6

The Grade 6 students have continued to work hard across all learning areas this fortnight. In Reading, students have completed Us Mob: Walawurru and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the text and exploring the rich culture and perspectives it presented. They are excited to continue building their understanding through our upcoming excursion later this term.
In Writing, students completed detailed summaries of the novel, demonstrating their understanding of key themes, characters and important events throughout the story.
In Mathematics, students have spent the past two weeks focusing on decimals. They have developed a range of strategies for adding and subtracting decimals, while also applying rounding and estimation skills to real-life situations involving money. It has been fantastic to see students growing in confidence and accuracy when solving decimal-based problems.
Our Humanities inquiry continues to see students becoming experts on a range of South-East Asian and Pacific Island countries. Students have been researching geography, culture, traditions and important features of their chosen countries and are eager to share their learning with others.
This week also saw 6B and 6D participate in the Kids Roar program. Students gained a deeper understanding of online safety, positive digital behaviours and strategies to stay safe and responsible when using technology. We look forward to seeing them apply these important skills both at school and at home.
