Grade 5

Reading: 

In Reading, we have continued reading Black Cockatoo and exploring the important themes throughout the novel. Students have been discussing ideas such as identity, culture, friendship and understanding different perspectives. We have enjoyed sharing our thoughts and making connections between the text and the world around us.

Writing: 

In Writing, students have been continuing their factual recounts about Jandamarra. We have focused on organising events in chronological order and using accurate historical information to support our writing. Students are also working on using clear paragraph structure and descriptive vocabulary to engage their readers.

Maths: 

In Maths, we have been working on decimals to three decimal places and developing our understanding of number lines. Students have been practising reading, ordering and placing decimals accurately. We have also explored how number lines can help us visualise and compare decimal values.
