F/1/2 CLASSROOM

We have had another wonderful and busy few weeks in the F/1/2 classroom, with students continuing to show enthusiasm, resilience and pride in their learning. It has been lovely to see students becoming increasingly independent and confident as they move through the term and continue demonstrating our class expectations each day.
In Literacy, students have continued to make fantastic progress across all year levels. Our Foundation students have been extending their letter and sound knowledge and are becoming increasingly confident reading and writing simple words and sentences.
Across Years 1 and 2, students have continued developing their spelling, grammar, comprehension, and writing skills. Students have been working hard to apply new learning and build fluency and confidence when reading and writing.
Readers have also begun going home, which has been such an exciting milestone. Students are incredibly proud to share their reading with families, and we encourage you to continue reading together at home and celebrating their progress.
In Mathematics, students have been exploring concepts including shape, measurement, place value and addition and subtraction through hands-on and collaborative learning experiences. It has been wonderful to see students explaining their thinking and becoming more confident problem-solvers.
Over the past fortnight, assessment and testing has also been underway across a range of learning areas. I have been incredibly proud of the effort, persistence and positive attitude students have shown throughout these sessions. Students have approached challenges with confidence and have done an amazing job showing what they know.
In Inquiry, students have continued exploring Geography through learning about places, maps and environments. Students have enjoyed discussing different environments across Australia and making connections to places that are important to them.
In Art, students have been exploring artwork inspired by Bronwyn Bancroft and discussing the use of colour, patterns, and representations found in her work. Students have enjoyed creating artworks using a variety of materials and techniques and have shown wonderful creativity and care throughout the process. It has been lovely to see students sharing ideas and taking pride in their creations.
Last week, students were fortunate to continue their work with Melbourne artists from Under the Creative Hood as part of our exciting creative arts partnership program. Throughout the sessions, students have been working collaboratively to contribute ideas and create a shared piece together. It has been wonderful to see students trying new experiences, expressing their creativity and building confidence as they work alongside both the visiting artists and their peers.
I continue to be so proud of the effort all students are putting into their learning and the kindness and encouragement they continue to show towards one another. It has been wonderful to see the positive relationships and supportive classroom environment our students are helping to create each day.
