NAIDOC week and Reconciliation Week

NAIDOC week and Reconciliation Week

As we reflect during National Reconciliation Week and look ahead to NAIDOC Week in July, it's a wonderful opportunity to deepen our understanding of and appreciation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements.

SchoolTV has shared a thoughtful Special Report that explores the significance of NAIDOC Week and offers practical ideas for families to learn, reflect and celebrate together.

We encourage families to take a few moments to read through this resource and continue important conversations about respect, understanding and reconciliation.

Reconciliation Week Art

To celebrate Reconciliation Week, 3-6 students explored the power of their words and actions through the creation of pebble ripple artwork. Inspired by the idea that one small action can create a lasting impact, students reflected on how saying sorry, showing kindness, and speaking positively can strengthen relationships and build a more respectful community.

Using concentric circles to represent ripples in water and a pebble at the centre, students created beautiful artworks symbolising how our choices can spread far beyond ourselves. Just as a pebble dropped into a pond creates ripples, acts of respect, understanding and reconciliation can have a positive effect on those around us. Drop a pebble, change the pond.
