Year 1 & 2
Around our level
For Maths lessons, students have been learning about Fractions, Money, and Length. Year 2 students have been learning about halves, quarters, and eighths through repeated halving through folding. Students have been learning how to skip count when counting money by counting with 5c, 10c, 20c, 50c, $1, and $2 coins. They have been measuring with informal units, such as unifix, to compare the length of objects and describe them as shorter/longer or smaller/taller.

In Geography, students explored the environment around our school by identifying and sorting natural and human-made features. They considered what a special place is to them and how they could look after it. They also participated in learning experiences for National Reconciliation Week and National Sorry Day, where they explored Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ connection to Country and discussed ways to care for and protect the environment.

In Wellbeing, students explored the importance of clear communication, active listening, and teamwork through interactive activities. They practised giving and following verbal instructions, asking clarifying questions, and reflecting on how listening carefully supports effective communication and safety.
