We have had a fantastic few weeks in Indonesian across the school.
Our Prep students have continued developing their Indonesian number and colour knowledge. They explored fascinating aspects of Indonesian culture and geography, including the komodo dragon, traditional rice fields, and the distinctive hats worn in rural farming communities. Students also had the exciting opportunity to learn about "sepak takraw", even holding a real game ball and discovering how the sport is played.
Year 1 and 2 students have been learning and revising emotions vocabulary through an engaging game called "Post-it Thief". In this interactive activity, students used Indonesian emotion words to gain and lose post-it notes, strengthening their recall through play. They have also continued building their understanding of numbers and emotions in Indonesian through speaking, games, and written activities.
Students in Years 3 and 4 have been exploring daily routines in Indonesian, comparing their own routines with those of students in Indonesia. They have been developing their understanding of time, including digital time and half-hour intervals. Students also compared a typical Australian school day with a school day in Indonesia, noticing similarities and differences in structure and timing.
Our senior students in Years 5 and 6 have been investigating directions and mapping in Indonesian, using cardinal and ordinal directions in engaging games and activities. They analysed maps of both an Indonesian school and Yarra Road, focusing on describing directions, including buildings that are near and far, and those that are next to each other, as well as comparing classrooms, facilities, and the structure of the school day, including reasons for differences between contexts.
Across the school, students explored the Asian Beach Games, where Indonesia was a competing nation. A standout moment was watching the speed climbing event, where Indonesia achieved a gold medal and broke a world record. Students were inspired by the athleticism and global success on display.

There has been a wonderful buzz of excitement in Performing Arts as students continue preparing for our whole-school production of Disney’s "Alice in Wonderland Jr".
Our Year 5/6 students have been working incredibly hard as they juggle many different aspects of rehearsals. Students are not only learning and memorising lines, but are also developing their characters, practising dance routines, and refining their drama performance skills. It has been fantastic to see students building confidence on stage and supporting one another throughout the rehearsal process.
Students have been exploring expression, movement, voice projection, stage presence, and characterisation to help bring the story to life. Their dedication and enthusiasm have been outstanding, and we are so proud of the effort they are putting into rehearsals each week.
Across the school, excitement continues to grow as classes learn their songs, dances, and staging. We cannot wait to see all of the hard work come together on stage later this term!
I would like to thank Jamie Gand Lola H for creating the striking display in the front office. Their creativity and hard work have helped build excitement for the production throughout the school community.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing support with practising at home. Your support plays such an important role in helping students feel confident and prepared for this exciting experience.

Football Fun: AFL & Soccer
Football has been the focus over these past few weeks.
In our AFL sessions, we have been focusing on key gameplay skills, like leading and evasion. The students loved using velcro tags to practice their evasion and playing games, like 'piggy in the middle', to improve their passing and teamwork.
We have also kicked off our soccer unit! The kids have been working on their skills through fast-paced games, like 'Soccer Mud Tag' and 'Numbers'. To help build our soccer kicking skills, we have been practicing these four simple prompts:
"Step beside the ball"
"Use the inside of your shoe"
"Lock your ankle"
"High-five your partner" (our favourite way to remember a good follow-through!)
District Cross Country
A huge congratulations to all of the students who competed at the District Cross Country day. It was a seriously tough course, with challenging weather, but our runners showed amazing resilience and determination. It was fantastic to see everyone give their best effort.
Congratulations to the six students who qualified for the upcoming Division Cross Country:
Lenny M
Harvey W
Lylah K
Matthew B
Cruze F
Maddison H
We are incredibly proud of all our competitors and wish our Division runners the best of luck at the next level!

Students brought their ideas to life through hands-on building, testing, and creative problem-solving.
Prep
Students built rolling vehicles and explored how design impacts speed, while continuing to represent motion through art.
Year 1/2
Investigations continued as students observed changes over time, created graphs, and designed engaging Science Fair posters.
Year 3/4
Students explored simple machines and structural strength while building large-scale props for their Wonderland displays.
Year 5/6
Students began prototyping their vehicles, testing designs, making improvements, and developing branding for their projects.
