Sporting News

Our students from Years 3-6 left their pens on their desks and ventured to Tamworth for a sporting excursion to participate in the NSW Touch Football Gala day. Sport in schools is a powerful extension of classroom learning because it provides a practical, hands-on environment for students to develop essential skills that complement their academic knowledge. While classroom subjects build intellectual foundations, school sports build the character traits necessary for success in life.

The day began with the sun shining, and the spirit of competition in the air. Our focus for the day was about teamwork and the importance of good sportsmanship. During the games we saw our students demonstrating the value of collaboration. Players were passing the ball selflessly to teammates, calling out encouragement from the sidelines, and working together to defend their try line.

These days aren't just about winning; they are about building trust and understanding. It was a clear reminder that a group of individuals can achieve so much more when they work as a cohesive unit. The day showcased how strong communication, mutual support, and a shared goal can create a fun game for all!

We came away with valuable lessons and the understanding that the spirit of the game is more important than the final score. It’s about celebrating effort and integrity, and recognising that showing up, showing respect to your opponents, your teammates, and yourself is the ultimate measure of a champion.

A huge congratulations to all the students who participated! Thank you to the teachers, parent volunteers, and spectators who cheered everyone on and made the day such a great success.

Goodluck to our two Polding qualifiers, Angus Johnston and Dexter Urquhart who will be representing our school at the Hunter Sports Centre in Glendale on Friday 12 September. We can't wait to hear all about it!

The term is quickly wrapping up but we have one more Gala Day to go. Keep an eye out on Compass for further details regarding the Netball and Soccer Gala Day in Tamworth on Tuesday the 23 September.

Our circus practice is still going strong - the next time we see you will be in the tent!

See you at the Circus!
