Early reading support is critical because research shows that ‘fewer than 1 in 5 students who fall behind in reading by Year 3 catch up and stay caught up’.

Building strong reading skills early also fosters a love of learning and improves overall school performance across all key learning areas. Consistent reading at home creates a strong foundation that benefits your child throughout their education and beyond.

At St Joseph’s we work really hard to encourage students to read at home. Our nightly reading initiative is again proving to be a huge success with so many awards and prizes for reading each night going home. The bonus points towards their house teams really helps teams win. So remember to keep up the reading to support learning and the team!
