Middle School Report
Mr Peter Tarwala
Middle School has made a strong and encouraging start, with attendance showing clear signs of improvement across the board. It was particularly pleasing to see Year 9 reach attendance rates in the 90s in the week prior—an excellent reflection of students’ growing consistency and engagement in their learning. While Year 10 attendance has traditionally been an area of challenge, we are continuing to work closely with students and families to support improvement in this space. Overall, the school is settled, classrooms are focused, and learning is progressing well. As part of our ongoing commitment to every student’s success, we will be connecting with families and organising Student Support Group (SSG) meetings for students who have missed 10 or more days of school, ensuring the right supports are in place to keep them on track.

Year 10 Work-Related Skills students recently attended the Clarinda Athletics Carnival as event helpers, gaining valuable real-world experience. Students assisted with setup, coordination, and recording results, while developing key skills such as teamwork, communication, and responsibility.
The day provided a great insight into what it takes to run a successful sporting event, with students demonstrating a positive attitude and strong work ethic throughout.
This hands-on experience allowed students to develop key employability skills such as communication, teamwork, initiative, and reliability. They also gained a deeper understanding of the roles and responsibilities involved in event management, particularly within a sporting context.
