Grounds update

Playground

Our playground is nearing completion. The wet weather has slowed the progress of the initial stages when the machinery was finding the conditions difficult. The rain has also slowed the progress of setting the dye in the rubber soft-fall as it is being laid. All these delays are part of the process of winter builds.

We are now nearing completion of the rubber soft-fall laying and of the planting in the garden beds. When the playground is open, we will have to put some tape around these garden beds to ensure that the plants have an opportunity to establish.

Our contractors are now working with auditors from the Department of Education ensuring that all safety elements have been attended to before the fences are taken down. We have set a date of Tuesday 19th August for the opening, but this is also subject to everything proceeding as planned.

Line Markings

In week 3, we began the work of relining the outside basketball courts. The basketball court lining does wear easily due to both the constant use from students and the fact that it is open to the elements. Work on these lines has now been completed. We are also working with the company to add new ‘downball’ courts for the students, as well as additional ‘slow down’ ground signs to encourage a slower pace by our eager moving students at recess and lunch.
