NAIDOC Week
During week 1, our school community came together to acknowledge NAIDOC Week, which was celebrated 5th – 12th July. It's a special time to honour Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, their history, culture, and achievements. It's been 50 years since NAIDOC Week first began.
The theme for this year is: “50 Years of Deadly.” It marks five decades of NAIDOC Week, a week dedicated to amplifying and celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and cultures.
During our assembly, Fire Carriers and members of the Catholic Identity team explained what NAIDOC Week is all about and read prayers to commemorate this special event.

7/8/26 - Foundation
14/8/26 - Whole School Mass celebrating the Feast of the Assumption. This Mass will be at 12:00 p.m.
Mercy Awards
Our first Mercy Award for Term 3 will be focusing on the quality of ‘Service.’
This award will be presented during assembly on Friday, 31st July at 9am in the Josephinum.
For weeks 4-6, the next Mercy Award will focus on the quality of being ‘Faithful.’
The Sisters of Mercy were very faithful and demonstrated faithfulness through their dedication to God, service to others, and commitment to living out the Gospel values. Their founder, Catherine McAuley, instilled a charism, focused on the Spiritual and Corporal Works of Mercy, which they continue to embody. This faithfulness is expressed through prayer, contemplation, and active service, particularly to those marginalized by poverty, sickness, and lack of education.
Some ways we can be faithful here at St Joseph's are:
- being reliable and keeping commitments
- showing loyalty to family and friends
- being true to your beliefs even when challenged
- engaging in prayer and reflection
- being honest and trustworthy
Reconciliation
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be held on Friday, September 11th.
Any baptised students in Grade 3 or above are able to enrol in this program. This is the Sacrament that children take part in beforethe Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. It is a home-based program undertaken over 5 weeks leading up to the ceremony.
An information session was held on Wednesday, July 22nd.

Feast of the Assumption
The Feast of the Assumption will be celebrated with a whole school Mass on Friday August 14th at 12pm. All are welcome to attend.
