CAVE HILL ROAD CLOSURE
Level Crossing Closure
From 24 January 2024, Cave Hill Road will permanently close at the level crossing. This means vehicles will no longer be able to cross the rail line between Cave Hill Road and Melba Avenue.
Access to Lilydale High School and businesses on Melba Avenue will be maintained from Hutchinson Street, and Cave Hill Road and Taylor Street will remain accessible from John Street.

Changes to the way you travel on the Belgrave and Lilydale lines
We’re powering ahead to make the Lilydale Line level crossing free and getting rid of more boom gates on the Belgrave Line in 2024, a year ahead of schedule.
Works to remove the Coolstore Road level crossing and build the new Croydon Transport Hub will ramp up in the new year. Students, parents, and school staff will need to plan ahead and allow extra travel time while these works take place.
During these works, buses will replace trains on sections of the Belgrave and Lilydale lines from Tuesday 30 January to April 2024.
Blackburn, Belgrave, and Lilydale: 8.30 pm Tuesday 30 January to last service Friday 2 February.
Ringwood and Belgrave: First service Saturday 3 February to last service Sunday 4 February.
Further information about rail disruptions during February, March and April will be provided in early 2024.
Croydon Station will be temporarily closed from 8.30 pm Tuesday 30 January until spring 2024. Lilydale Line trains will not stop at Croydon Station during this time. A shuttle bus service will be in operation, connecting train passengers from Croydon to services at Ringwood East and Mooroolbark.
Students, parents/carers and staff can catch the shuttle bus service from the train replacement bus stops on Devon Street.
When the station is closed, all facilities, including myki services and the Parkiteer will be unavailable. Alternative bike hoops will be available near the park at 99 Main Street, Croydon.
New myki card purchases, or balance top ups can be made at ptv.vic.gov.au/myki website, neighbouring stations or nearest retail outlets. The new Croydon Station will open by spring 2024.
