BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

What a Week!

50 students, 6 teams and 5 staff went to the Gold Coast to compete in the Foot Locker Australian School Basketball Championships. Over 2000 athletes from around Australia were competing for the week!

Escaping the rain to 30 degree weather every day seemed like a dream and after a bit of a slow start, the wins started piling up. 

Levi Iedema (Year 11) led the 20 Boys well, taking them to the quarter final.   

Our 20 Girls also made the quarter final and pushed the eventual champions right to the final minute. 

The U17 Gold Boys had some impressive wins (including one by 88 points) and eventually fell in the crossover final. 

The U17 Maroon Boys bounced back after some tough losses to win, 2 of their final 3 games both by an average of 25 points. 

U17 Blue Boys fought valiantly throughout the week and although they did not get a win, their pace showed a lot of issues for some of the top teams.

A great week of basketball and FUN was had by all students and staff!
