BOOK LAUNCH

Creative writing from students of Lilydale High School - 2023

Found Objects

Across the course of this year, students have been working behind the scenes to bring the very first edition of our Lilydale High School writing collection to life. Led by Mr Crowley, students had to work with the concept of ‘Found Objects’ to write a piece which was then edited, collated and published.

The launch of our publication occurred on the morning of Tuesday 19 December, the very last day of term. Students who had contributed were invited, along with their parents and guardians. At the ceremony, each student was presented with a certificate and a copy of the book to take home.

After the ceremony, many students stayed to mingle, have some morning tea and ask the other contributors to sign their copies. The students were very impressed with the quality of the book, and especially loved the front cover, which was designed by Mr. Crowley. The book featured writing from students from Year 7-12, as well as from a past student, and included poetry, short stories and prose.

Overall it was a very successful launch, and I know the book has arrived in perfect time to be a great holiday read!

I would like to pass on my thanks to Tanya Hade and Ayzia Mitchell, both of whom were instrumental in putting this all together.

Finally, I would like to thank Kieran Crowley, without whom this book would never have been written.

Congratulations to all students involved!
