Wear It Purple Day – Friday 28 August
On Friday 28 August, Frankston High School will once again come together as a community to recognise and celebrate Wear It Purple Day.
Wear It Purple Day is an opportunity to affirm that every LGBTQIA+SB young person deserves to feel seen, valued, supported and safe. This year's theme, “Colours of Courage,” reminds us that courage is often demonstrated through the everyday actions we take to support others, challenge unkindness and create spaces where everyone feels that they belong.
At Frankston High School, we want every student to know:
You belong here. You matter. You are valued.
Students and staff are encouraged to wear a touch of purple on the day as a visible demonstration of our commitment to inclusion and belonging. There will also be a range of activities throughout the day, including lunchtime activities, a Rainbow Playlist, a Wear It Purple flag-raising ceremony, a bake sale and other community activities.
We look forward to seeing our Junior School students getting involved and helping us create a school environment where everyone feels respected, included, and valued.
R U OK? Day – Thursday 10 September
On Thursday 10 September, Frankston High School will recognise R U OK? Day, a national day that reminds us of the importance of meaningful conversations and checking in with the people around us.
R U OK? Day is an opportunity to remind our students that asking a simple “Are you OK?” can make a real difference. It encourages us to notice when someone may be struggling, take the time to genuinely listen, and connect people with support when they need it.
At Frankston High School, we know that wellbeing and belonging are strengthened through positive relationships and a strong sense of community. R U OK? Day provides an opportunity for us to reinforce these messages with our students and encourage them to look out for themselves and one another.
This year, our school community will also come together for the March for Mental Fitness, a student-led initiative organised by our Year 12 VCE VM students in collaboration with Wayne Holdsworth from SmackTalk.
The event will take place on the Junior Campus Oval from 7.00am–9.00am on Thursday 10 September. Participants will walk 24 laps of the oval, with a minute's silence at 7:24am, in tribute to Wayne's late son, Mac.
The message behind the event is simple:
24 laps. Phones off. One community. One important cause.
The initiative encourages our community to switch off from technology, walk together, and make time for genuine conversation and connection, while raising awareness of mental fitness and supporting the important work of SmackTalk.
We encourage our students, families, staff and wider community to get involved and support this important student-led initiative.
Sometimes a conversation can change a day, a relationship, or even a life. This R U OK? Day, let's make time to ask, listen and genuinely connect.
