JUNIOR SCHOOL | Update
Dear Years 7 and 8 Parents/Carers and Students
Term 3 continues to be a busy and rewarding time across our Junior School, with our Year 7 and 8 students embracing a wide range of learning opportunities, activities, performances and experiences.
Our Year 7 students recently celebrated 100 Days at Frankston High School, providing a wonderful opportunity to reflect on their first 100 days of secondary school and celebrate the friendships, learning experiences and achievements they have made along the way.
Our Year 8 students have also been busy making their course selections for Year 9 in 2027. This is an exciting step in their secondary schooling journey, and we have been supporting students to consider their interests, strengths, and aspirations as they begin planning for their next stage of learning.
The Junior School has also been incredibly proud of the students involved in our Mary Poppins production. The commitment, enthusiasm and talent demonstrated by our students throughout rehearsals and performances has been fantastic to see. A huge congratulations to all students and staff involved in bringing this wonderful production to life.
Our students have also been extending themselves beyond the classroom through a range of academic and enrichment opportunities, including the Year 7 and 8 Mathematics Competition, our Winter Music Concert, and the Year 7 Science Incursion featuring a Q&A with Dr Karl. These experiences provide students with opportunities to develop their curiosity, confidence, and passion for learning.
Looking Ahead
There is plenty more happening across the Junior School over the coming weeks.
Our Year 8 students will participate in Pat Cronin Foundation sessions on Friday 21 August and Monday 12 October. These sessions provide an important opportunity for students to engage in conversations around respectful relationships, safety, decision-making, and looking out for one another.
From next week, our Year 8 Geography students will be heading to Melbourne Zoo as part of their learning about rainforest environments and animals.
The excursion provides students with an opportunity to take their learning beyond the classroom and undertake fieldwork in an authentic environment. Working alongside their teachers, students will complete fieldwork activities and collect information that will contribute to their Geography learning and projects.
Following the completion of their fieldwork, students will have an opportunity to explore the Zoo in smaller groups, providing them with time to engage with the exhibits and further develop their understanding of the animals and environments they have been studying.
Our Year 7 students will participate in What Bus wellbeing sessions on Monday 14 September as part of the Frankston Youth Bus program. These sessions will provide students with opportunities to engage in conversations and activities that support positive wellbeing, connection, and help-seeking.
Cyber Safety Project – Student Sessions and Parent Information Evening
As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing and online safety, we are excited to welcome the Cyber Safety Project to our school in Term 3.
On Wednesday 2 September, Junior School students will participate in engaging and age-appropriate cyber safety presentations delivered by specialist educators. These sessions focus on helping young people develop safe, responsible and positive digital habits, while building their understanding of online safety and digital wellbeing.
We will also be hosting a Parent Information Evening on the same day. This session will provide practical advice and strategies to help families navigate the digital world, including topics such as social media, gaming, screen time, online safety, privacy and supporting positive digital wellbeing at home.

As we move through the second half of Term 3, I continue to be incredibly proud of the way our Junior School students engage with the opportunities available to them.
From the classroom to the stage, from sporting and academic challenges to wellbeing initiatives and community events, our students are continually demonstrating our Frankston High School values of Respect, Responsibility, Resilience and Empathy.
Our vision is for Frankston High School to be a collaborative community where everyone is supported and challenged to achieve their full potential. The opportunities our students are experiencing this term are an important part of bringing this vision to life.
