Student Exchange |  28-Day Reciprocal Exchange Program to Fukuoka Daiichi High School, Japan

Frankston High School is pleased to offer Year 10 students studying Japanese the opportunity to apply for the 28-Day Reciprocal Exchange Program with Fukuoka Daiichi High School in Kyushu, Japan.

Students selected for the program will attend Fukuoka Daiichi High School as exchange students for 28 days. During their stay, they will participate in an intensive Japanese language program supported by the school's foreign language teachers.

School tuition fees are waived, and all meals are provided throughout the 28-day exchange.

The program is held annually during late September or October/November.

As part of the reciprocal exchange arrangement, participating families are required to host a student from Fukuoka Daiichi High School for 28 days either before or after their child's visit to Japan.

Families are responsible for the cost of:

  • Return airfares to Japan
  • Overseas travel insurance
  • Spending money and personal expenses

Students will live alongside other international students and are expected to actively develop their Japanese language skills throughout the program.

As places are limited, interested students will be required to participate in a selection process.

Expression of Interest

Students wishing to be considered for this exciting opportunity are invited to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI). As places are limited, submitting an EOI is the first step in the selection process and does not guarantee a place in the program.

Selection Criteria

The following attributes will be highly regarded during the selection process:

  • A genuine interest in Japanese language and culture.
  • A willingness to continue studying Japanese at VCE level.
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • A commitment to signing and adhering to a Code of Responsibility for personal behaviour.
  • A willingness to attend all pre-departure information and briefing sessions.
