PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

National Science Week, Student Success and Your Voice.

It has been rewarding period at Korumburra Secondary College, with our students continuing to demonstrate curiosity, creativity and a willingness to embrace new opportunities.

This week, we are celebrating National Science Week, an opportunity to recognise the importance of science, technology, innovation and inquiry in our everyday lives. Science Week provides a wonderful opportunity for our students to explore questions, test ideas and consider how science can help shape our future. I encourage all members of our school community to take an interest in the activities and learning students have been engaged in across the College and at different schools and venues across South Gippsland. And I would like to thank on behalf of the School community, all the hard working and inspirational teachers who have organised and facilitated the various activities, and in particular the expert guidance and support from Donna Muldoon and Stacie Witton.

A particular highlight has been the outstanding achievement of our KSC Team Zero Gravity at the H2GP. The team was awarded Best Presentation, recognising the students’ creativity, preparation and ability to communicate their work so effectively. Congratulations to Ruby C, Lily B, Asha F, April J, Violet J, Miley M, Bridget M, Oscar O, Mitchell P, Amora P and Arthur S. We are incredibly proud of the way these students represented Korumburra Secondary College and demonstrated teamwork, innovation and persistence.

Another of the highlights this week for me were the Korumburra Primary School Science Lessons on Wednesday 19 August delivered by our Year 9 students. It was amazing to watch students teaching students about science with such enthusiasm, care and expertise. We encourage all families to ask about the engagement with science activities their children were involved in. Science is about curiosity and problem solving and most importantly fun and this was on display.

I would also like to remind and encourage all parents and carers to participate in the 2026 Parent / Carer Opinion Survey. Your feedback is extremely valuable in helping us understand what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve. My goal this year is for 70% of our parents and carers—250 responses—to complete the survey.
