MDIFA

After a term of intra-national competition, with many formidable teams battling it out for MDIFA glory, we finally arrived at yesterday's Grand Final - and what a nail biter it was!
Well done to both Malta and Honduras, who put on an incredible contest. The Maltese piled on the pressure for much of the game, repeatedly crashing down on the Honduras goal and keeping the Hondurans under the pump.
After a goalless draw through extra time, we found ourselves — along with most of the school — in the Quagmire Arena for a quintessential Grand Final penalty shoot-out.
Unfortunately for Malta, they were unable to capitalise on their dominance, and it was the Hondurans who kept their cool, belting the peat out of the bog and winning the shoot-out 3–1.
Honduras have captured their first-ever MDIFA World Cup! The President of Honduras has declared a national holiday in honour of such a historic feat. Well done, Honduras!!
A huge thank you to all the teams who participated in the MDIFA 2026 competition this year. Your respect, camaraderie and sportsmanship towards each other are at the heart of why we run MDIFA.
And of course, thank you to all the supporters, staff and ground crew for your support. This Mater Dei tradition simply could not continue without you.
Mr Bailey, Mr Carroll and I look forward to seeing teams back in 2027 - Giddy up!
