TA

We have been undertaking learning around careers, positive self talk and coping skills and examining values and qualities that our students admire. Our Careers topic saw us study various careers for the future, what various careers actually do and finished with games of Scattegories. Positive self talk studied the value of undertaking this, how it can be used at school and in sport and what steps we can put into place moving forward. Looking at values we admire, we thought about our personal lives and who are the people we admire. We were then able to identify the traits that these people had.

Homework

A reminder to all of our students around the importance of undertaking their homework. Not only does it allow you to master the new concepts learnt that week but it is also a great opportunity to share the work with parents and work through it together. At Years 5 to 8, our students should be completing a minimum of their two-sided sheet each week.

Phone reminder – please ensure these are “Off and Away All Day” We know phones are a distraction and our students are constantly drawn to them, so a reminder to keep them in their lockers/school bags all day.

School wide routines

We continue to embed practices in our classroom that leads to greater attention and learning. Our students have a great understanding of their entry and exit routines and follow their cue to start with fidelity. These routines ensure there is less time off task and leads to a calmer working environment. Our whiteboard routines continue to improve, as does our all-inclusive classroom questioning. The whiteboards allow teachers to quickly analyse what students do and don’t know and the questioning ensures all students are alert and engaged as anyone can be asked to provide an answer during a lesson, not just those with their hands up.
