Car Park Safety & Protocols

At St. Simon’s, the safety and well-being of all members of the community is always our highest priority. To ensure our car park remains a secure environment during the busy morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times, we ask all families to strictly adhere to the following safety protocols:

Important "Kiss & Drop" Rules

  • Driver Must Remain in the Vehicle: If you are using the "Kiss & Drop" drive-thru lane, your child must be able to independently exit the car on their own. Drivers must not leave the vehicle under any circumstances in this lane, as this causes traffic jams and creates safety hazards. If your child needs assistance, please park your car in a designated parking bay instead.
  • Exit on the Left-Hand Side Only: For the safety of your children, students should never enter or exit a vehicle from the right-hand side (the driver's side). Exiting into the right lane puts them at immediate risk from moving through-traffic. Please ensure your child only uses the left-hand doors closest to the footpath.

Entering via Gate 4 (Peak Times)

  • PLEASE Do Not Block the Footpath: When entering Gate 4 during peak times, parents are reminded not to queue across or block the pedestrian footpath crossing. Please wait until there is a clear space ahead for your vehicle to completely clear the crossing before making your turn.
  • Turning Right into Gate 4: Drivers turning right into Gate 4 are permitted to turn directly into the right-hand lane of the car park. Once safely inside the parish/school site, you can then merge into the left lane. This helps keep traffic flowing smoothly on the main road.

Thank you to all our families for your cooperation, patience, and commitment to keeping our school community safe!

Car Park Safety

There have been several observations in the car park of unsafe carpark behaviour in the morning and drop-off times. Please ensure cars are parked in line with the markings and within the defined spaces.

As a general reminder, please take some time to read our car park safety protocols.  If you have relatives picking up students from school, please make them aware of these protocols. Everyone has a role to play in keeping our school and parish site safe for all people.

Car Park Safety and Protocols

  1. Parking is only permitted in the designated spaces.  Parents are welcome to park in the upper car park on the side closest to the school oval (East side of carpark).  Parking spaces on the Taylors Lane side (West side if carpark) and all spaces in the lower car park (Gate 2) are for staff vehicles.

  2. Disabled\Wheelchair parking is available in the Gate 4 carpark at the of the carpark on the left-hand (East side) side.

  3. The speed limit within the car park is walking pace - 5 km/h

  4. When using the Drop off\Pick up lane (left lane) drivers must remain with their cars at all times. No car should be left unattended whilst in this lane.  If you need more time to find your child then you need to move out of the lane and find a car park.

  5. When using the Drop off/Pick up lane, students should exit the car on the left side to ensure they are not at risk of the cars moving down the right “through” lane.

  6. Children, especially young children, often react without thinking and so accidents can occur in the safest environments. Everyone’s co-operation is essential.

  7. Due to the high level of vehicles at drop-off and pick-up times, we encourage parents to park in the surrounding streets and walk into the school property.  Not only will this ease congestion but offers children an opportunity for some incidental exercise and a relaxed time to talk about their day.
