Knox Division AFL 9’s Girls Championships

It promises to be full of fun, great games, plenty of tackling, kicking goals, and fantastic teamwork. We can’t wait to see our girls get out there and give it their all!
The new date of the Knox Division AFL 9’s Championships is Tuesday 21st July in the second week of Term 3.
AFL 9’s Girls Training:
Training will be offered for all students participating in Term 3 to build their skill, confidence and gameplay.
Monday 20th July (day before competition) - 7:45am - 8:20am at Eildon Park Reserve, Eildon Parade, Rowville (parents must remain for the duration of this training session)
AFL 9’s Girls Team Jersey:
AFL jerseys have been fitted to most girls in the teams. If your daughter has not been fitted with a jersey and shorts, this will be done the morning of the competition.
Parent Helpers Needed:
We are still in need of parent volunteers to coach our two girls B sides .If you are able to support us as a parent helper on the day, please email Mr Karl Camerino.
If there are no parents able to support the B team on the day, both teams will be merged into one large B side team. This is NOT IDEAL as it will not give all the girls a good amount of game time.
We hope to not get to this situation as parent support is vital to ensure participation of our students who are excited to play.

Winter Sport Gets Off to a Flying Start!
Winter Sport has kicked off in fantastic fashion, with our teams enjoying a flurry of success across the first day of competition! It was wonderful to see students proudly representing St Simon and showcasing their skills, teamwork, and love of sport.
There were some mighty hits off the tee in teeball, impressive teamwork and smooth ball movement from our AFL boys, and some outstanding goals scored on the soccer field. Our netballers were equally impressive, demonstrating excellent passing, quick footwork, strong balance, and accurate shooting throughout their games.
A special thank you goes to two former St Simon students, Layla and Sophia who returned to help umpire our netball matches. It was wonderful to welcome them back and see them giving back to our sporting community. We are incredibly grateful for their support and the positive example they set for our current students.
Congratulations to all students on a fantastic start to the Winter Sport competition - lets hope this continues for Day 2 and the finals.

*If the day of games are postponed due to weather or ground condition, the back up date will be used within the District and Day 2 of competition moved to Friday 19th June.
St Simon Interschool Sport Key Dates 2026
Please note the following date for our SSV Wantirna District and Knox Division for the 2025 calendar year.
These dates are subject to change according to the discretion of the District and Division Coordinator. We wish to provide parents of our school the opportunity to acknowledge when upcoming sporting events are occurring.
We particularly call out to all future Year 5 and 6 parents to note the dates and to be potentially available to support our Interschool Sport teams as parent involvement not only supports our students in many ways as coaches and umpires but helps our staff with assistance with supervision. We thank all parents for their great help in making Interschool Sport a success for St Simon!
