SUSTAINABILITY

Carry In! Carry Out!

At Bittern Primary School, we are working hard to reduce waste and encourage everyone to think about sustainability every day!

We are working on a “Carry In, Carry Out” approach with our lunchboxes. We have loved seeing so many reusable containers that can be washed and used again which is already making a huge difference in our community. Keep up the fantastic work!

Our next step towards a sustainable school is thinking about the rubbish we do bring. Any rubbish that comes to school in our lunchboxes also goes home in our lunchboxes, so it can be placed in the correct bin—either the household recycling bin or through the soft plastics recycling program at Woolworths.

By doing this, we hope to spark proactive conversations about how we can all reduce waste and make meaningful changes in the way we think about “rubbish,” both at home and at school. After all, the future we’re building today will be inherited by our children tomorrow.

Reminder about soft plastics...

What can go in the bin?

  • Plastic shopping bags and bread bags
  • Chip and confectionery wrappers
  • Cereal box liners
  • Any soft plastic with the correct ARL
