From the Director of Junior School

Mrs Melissa Thirgood

Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 3!

Last Friday, our Year 3 Bottlebrush students led our first Prayer Service of the term, centred on the theme of gratitude. It was a wonderful way to begin the new term, reminding us to appreciate the many people in our lives who care for, support and love us each day.

Gratitude is a powerful practice that helps us recognise the good around us and fosters a sense of connection and wellbeing within our community. As child psychologist Dr Michael Carr-Gregg reminds us:

“Happiness is not the result of bouncing from one joy to the next; achieving happiness typically involves times of considerable discomfort. It’s more than simply a positive mood; it’s a state of wellbeing that encompasses living a good life.”

As we embark on another busy and exciting term, we encourage our students to take time to notice and give thanks for the people and experiences that enrich their lives. By cultivating gratitude, we strengthen our relationships, build resilience and contribute positively to the wellbeing of those around us.

Thank you to the students of 3 Bottlebrush for leading such a thoughtful and meaningful service. We look forward to all that Term 3 will bring.

We are delighted to welcome Mrs Jill Norton to our Junior School Music department for Term 3 and Term 4 while Mrs Mary Falkner is on leave.

Mrs Norton brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and a passion for music education, and we are excited for our students to learn and grow under her guidance this term. We know she will be warmly welcomed by our students, staff and families and quickly become a valued member of our school community.

We thank Mrs Falkner for her ongoing contribution to our music program and wish her well during her leave. We look forward to welcoming her back during Term 4.

Please join me in extending a warm Junior School welcome to Mrs Norton!
