Winter Training
Our Rowers have been working very hard in the gym since the start of last term. The gym sessions complement the on-water rowing on Sunday mornings. If your child is keen to join in with our very successful rowing program, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Pinelli: apinelli@smc.tas.edu.au
Try Rowing | Year 6, 2026
Our Try Rowing Day for current SMC Year 6 students will be held on Friday 21 August. The St Mary’s College Rowing Program is an amazing opportunity for the girls. It is highly successful, with SMC students achieving success at the Australian Rowing Championships and going on to represent both Tasmania and Australia after their schooling. Details will be made available to Year 6 families by the end of this week via Consent2Go. All students in Year 6 are encouraged to come along and have a go.
Congratulations

A special congratulations to Matilda Cunningham (Year 9) who has been selected to participate in the Tasmanian Institute of Sport Talent ID for 2032 program. She joined Sarah Thomas (Year 12), an existing participant in the program, which supports athletes in their chosen sport as they work towards the 2032 Olympic Games. Congratulations and good luck to Matilda and Sarah.

Volunteers and Child Safety
All parents of rowers are strongly encouraged to complete the Child Safety and Volunteer Induction in readiness for the upcoming season. I would encourage all parents to complete the Induction Briefing, as it enables you to volunteer throughout the rowing season.
Opportunities that require the induction include:
…to name just a few.
Please email Maria Walker (Risk and Compliance Officer) at whs@smc.tas.edu.au, and the necessary details will be sent to you to complete.
The rowers and I rely heavily on our volunteers to ensure the success of the program, so please complete the above as soon as possible.
