The Nirimba Senior Library continues to be a true "Window to the World", bringing global events, academic support, and artistic expression together under one roof.

Students were able to watch the Commonwealth Games live and in replay on the big screen, transforming our space into a quiet viewing hub. With six Sport, Leisure & Recreation (SLR) classes and five Health Movement Science (HMS) classes at Wyndham College, we had plenty of interested students joining us throughout the week, especially to see Australia’s gold‑medal wins in the pool.

It was great to have these moments of connection during a busy academic term. Many commented on how inspiring it was to see elite athletes perform at their peak while they themselves work toward their own goals.

In preparation for the Trial HSC, the library curated a comprehensive display of Year 12 study guides, covering English, Mathematics, Sciences, HSIE, and more. Students made excellent use of these resources, with many returning multiple times to revise, practise, and refine their exam strategies.

The display has now become a permanent feature during major assessment blocks, supporting our senior students as they navigate the final part of their HSC journey.

To celebrate Education Week, the library hosted a stunning art exhibition featuring:

  • Year 12 Cairns Photography
  • Year 11 Object Art

Parents, carers, and students were invited to attend the exhibition which showcased the creativity, technical skill, and personal expression of our senior Visual Arts students. Visitors were impressed by the quality of the work, with many commenting on how meaningful it was to see student talent celebrated in such an accessible space. The library team extends a warm thank‑you to the Visual Arts faculty and all students involved for bringing their inspiring art into our shared learning environment.

As we move further into Term 3, the library remains committed to supporting student wellbeing, academic success, and creative exploration.
