Year 12 Cairns Study Tour Awards

Wyndham College’s Year 12 students recently returned from an unforgettable study tour to Cairns, where they explored both Visual Arts and Social Sciences through real‑world, hands‑on learning experiences. The trip was a highlight of the year, offering students the chance to deepen their understanding of culture, environment, and artistic practice while building strong connections with their peers and teachers.

To celebrate the outstanding work produced during the tour, the Visual Arts faculty hosted a photography competition, showcasing the creative talent and technical skill of our Year 12 cohort. A small presentation ceremony was held in the library, where students were awarded prizes for their exceptional photographs capturing the landscapes, animals, and atmosphere of Cairns.

Principal Kristine Macphail, who attended the trip alongside staff and students, congratulated the group on what she described as one of the best camps she has ever attended. She praised the students for their maturity, enthusiasm, and the high calibre of their photographic work. Kristine also expressed her gratitude to Visual Arts teachers Jennie and Daniel, acknowledging their dedication in coordinating such a rich learning experience and generously giving their time to support students throughout the trip.

The Cairns study tour and photography celebration reflect the strong learning culture at Wyndham College—where academic exploration, creativity, and community come together to create meaningful senior‑school experiences.
