Learning, Attendance and Making the Most of Every Day

It has been another busy and exciting period at Wyndham College, with our students continuing to embrace learning opportunities both within our College and across the wider Nirimba Education Precinct.

The Nirimba Education Precinct hosted its bi-annual Professional Learning Breakfast, bringing together educators and partners from across the Precinct. We were very fortunate to hear from Professor Michele Simons, Dean of the School of Education at Western Sydney University.

Professor Simons is a recognised leader in adult education, lifelong learning and workforce development. Our discussions explored the rapidly changing role of technology in education, including the concept of augmentedteaching and how technology can enhance not replace the important work of teachers. We also heard about the exciting development of the new Centre for Teaching Excellence, which will provide further opportunities to strengthen teaching practice, collaboration and innovation across the education sector.

These opportunities highlight one of the great strengths of being part of the Nirimba Education Precinct: our students and staff are connected to a community of educators, universities, industry and other learning partners who are committed to improving educational outcomes.

Attendance Matters – Every Day Counts!

A reminder to all students that we have introduced two new attendance rewards at Wyndham College.

Students can now be recognised for:

• Improved Attendance – celebrating students who have made a positive improvement in their attendance.
• Excellent Attendance – recognising students who maintain consistently high attendance, with 95% or above.

Students with attendance above 95% will also be invited to the Principal's Lunch (Pizza Party) at the end of each term.

With our yearly examinations taking place from 14–25 September, there has never been a more important time to be at school every day. Being present gives you the opportunity to learn, ask questions, complete assessment preparation and stay connected with your teachers and classmates.

Make the Memories!

Finally, I encourage everyone to get involved in the fun activities and special days coming up at Wyndham College. Pyjama Day, Wear It Purple Day, Science Week activities, History Week Activities and R U OK? Day are opportunities to step away from the everyday routine, connect with your friends and contribute to the wonderful culture of our College.

These are often the moments that students remember long after they have finished school the laughs, the costumes, the shared experiences and the feeling of being part of something.

So, keep turning up, keep working hard and, importantly, make the most of your time at Wyndham.
