How many years have you been a part of the MECS community?
I have been part of the MECS community since 2017, firstly as a parent with 2 children in the school. I then become part of the MECS staff team as one of the First Aid officers for about 18 months before joining the board.
How long have you been on the MECS Board?
I have just started my second term on the board. I started on the Board in November 2021, before officially being elected in May 2022.
If you could holiday anywhere in the world, where would it be, and why?
Ooooh, way too many options. I have always wanted to go over to Europe in the Summer and work my way to some of the major sporting events. Top of my list of sporting events are The French tennis open, Wimbledon, Lords for the cricket and the Tour de France, secondary to sporting would be finding great coffee, chocolate and cheese.....my chances are high in Europe 😉
If you could have dinner with any historical figure, who would it be and why?
Mother Theresa would be my choice to have dinner with. I recently read somewhere that she was burdened for most of her life with the affliction of deep loneliness. Unlike the apostle Paul, God never revealed directly his reasons for this, however after years of praying for it to be taken away, she slowly came to realise her loneliness meant she could understand on a much deeper level what it was like to struggle each day. This helped her connect and walk closely with those she was sent to help. What a privilege it would be to chat to this humble and faithful woman of God.
What AFL team do you support?
I support the Essendon Bombers
My Favorite things:
Musician/Band: The Corrs
Books: too many to list here, but Lord of the Rings is up near the top, so too The O'Malley series by Dee Henderson.
Podcasts: Gospel in life with Timothy Keller, Right side with Danielle Strickland, Real Footy and Global Roaming are some of my regular listens.
I love musical theatre and have recently seen Les Misérables and Tina Turner- thoroughly enjoyed both!
I played tennis growing up, now enjoying pickleball - smaller court means my backhand goes in a lot more 😄
8. What do you love most about MECS?
So many things. 🙂The MECS Community is something that you don't find in many other places. I love that we are unique, we strive to honour God in all aspects of life and school. That we encourage our kids to find what it means for them to be fearfully and wonderfully made and work with parents in the education of their kids. I think we put on some great events, welcoming the community and showing them who we are in so many different ways.....but always accompanied with great food.
