CSEN Netball Championship Day

Day 2 of Term 3 saw 21 Year 7 - 9 students travel to the State Netball and Hockey Centre for the CSEN Netball Championship Day. We entered a Junior Boys team and Junior Girls team.

The boys team were undefeated in their preliminary rounds and won through two rounds of finals, to the Grand Final. In a close encounter, and with a couple of players injured during the day, the boys unfortunately went down by 1 goal. Whilst this was disappointing after such a good day, there is much to be said about coming 2nd out of 8 schools. A team of boys who worked so well together, having not played much or any netball before, and representing themselves and our school so well. A huge congratulations to the boys for this result!

The girls finished 3rd in their pool after 5 games, and progressed through to the quarter and then semi-finals where they lost against a much more skilled team. This meant they played off for the bronze medal. This match was their 8th game of the day and despite their excellent efforts, determination and persistence, they lost by 4 goals. Again, this is no small feat - finishing 4th out of 12 schools, many who are bigger than ours, it is a really pleasing result.

It's a privilege to be part of these days - to take enthusiastic students to great facilities where they are able to work together to show their God-given gifts and abilities. A big thanks to Jenny Taylor who assisted with coaching the boys team.
